Outcome

The approved changes are implemented and verified against the recorded technical baseline and optimisation indicators.

Overview

Advisory has identified a specific cost or capacity driver, and an approved set of changes is ready for implementation. This deliverable carries out those qualified changes; such as consolidating excessive sharding, pruning unneeded mapping fields or enabling synthetic source, to stabilise cluster sizing without degrading performance.

Service request options

Option Credits Scope & objective Boundary
Targeted 6,000 One cost driver or defined component (such as shard consolidation, mapping field pruning or synthetic source enablement) with a small approved change set.
Platform 9,000 Several coordinated approved changes across multiple components or data streams within one Elastic platform boundary. Requires Delivery approval.

Scope

  • Implement approved configuration changes identified during previous Advisory reviews.
  • Prune inefficient field mappings (such as selectively disabling doc_values or norms where unneeded).
  • Measure performance guardrails against pre-change query baselines.
  • Document residual capacity recommendations and operational handover evidence.

Customer responsibilities

  • Provide cost and usage data, business and performance constraints.
  • Designate an authorised technical lead to approve configuration modifications.
  • Provide scheduled change windows and approve rolling node restarts where required.
  • Participate in pre-change and post-change query verification testing.
  • Prompt formal acceptance once verification passes.

Prerequisites and assumptions

Advisory working sessions must already have identified the specific capacity driver, baseline metrics and agreed change plan before activation. The Platform variant requires Delivery approval.

Out of scope

  • Open-ended investigative exploratory audits (must be qualified in Advisory first).
  • Contractual guarantees of specific financial currency or euro savings.
  • Hardware procurement, commercial contract negotiations or cloud provider billing mediation.
  • Wholesale cluster data migrations or external application refactoring.
  • Continuous FinOps management or unmanaged post-change performance monitoring.

Delivery approach

  • 1. Confirm approved actions: Validate the specific levers, target templates and technical baseline.
  • 2. Baseline: Record pre-change storage footprint, shard counts, memory usage and query latencies.
  • 3. Implement in stages: Apply configuration changes in stages to avoid cluster stability disruption.
  • 4. Check health and guardrails: Confirm cluster green status, node stability and operational latency.
  • 5. Compare indicators: Measure updated technical metrics against baseline indicators.
  • 6. Complete: Compile comparison report, export updated configurations and close handover.

Completion and evidence

The approved changes are live, platform health and query performance guardrails pass and technical metric improvements are verified. Evidence delivered at sign-off includes:

  • Baseline versus post-change technical comparison metrics (shards, storage and heap).
  • Record of modified index templates, component templates and mapping configurations.
  • Post-change query and ingestion performance verification logs.
  • Documented residual capacity observations and formal customer acceptance.

Delivery credits

This deliverable is available exclusively through Elastic Specialist Advisory. Once qualified by your service advisor and delivery, the applicable credits are allocated from your available credit pool. Delivery credits represent the defined technical result, not consulting hours.

If the scope changes

If execution reveals broader cluster instability, hidden query dependencies on modified fields or capacity drivers requiring wider architectural re-engineering, work pauses immediately. Your Service Advisor will requalify the scope to another option, deliverable or governed engagement before extra scope is executed or additional credits are consumed.

How to use this deliverable

  • 1. Review cluster resource bottlenecks during your bi-weekly Advisory sessions.
  • 2. Your Service Advisor quantifies the technical lever and defines the exact change set.
  • 3. The Service Request is activated under Targeted or Platform.
  • 4. Delivery implements the changes, validates performance guardrails and provides metric evidence for sign-off.
