Outcome

The named endpoint or journey is monitored from the approved location and the recorded success, failure and notification checks pass.

Overview

One endpoint or customer journey needs automated availability evidence. This deliverable deploys automated synthetic monitoring checks - ranging from lightweight API and HTTP pings to scripted browser journeys - verifying availability, response timing and alerting from designated testing locations.

Service request options

Option Credits Scope & objective Boundary
Endpoint 3,000 One stable endpoint (HTTP, TCP or ICMP) and a straightforward availability, status code or SSL certificate assertion.
Transactional 6,000 One defined multi-step user journey (e.g. login, navigation or search flow) with approved authentication, test data and failure assertions. Requires Delivery approval.

Scope

  • Configure the automated monitor or Playwright/Synthetics journey script.
  • Select and configure monitoring locations (managed cloud testing locations or private testing nodes).
  • Define pass/fail assertion rules, latency thresholds and check frequencies.
  • Establish alert rules and notification channels for failed executions.
  • Execute controlled baseline testing and simulated failure checks.
  • Document monitor settings, script repositories and operational handover details.

Customer responsibilities

  • Provide target endpoint URLs, APIs or user journey workflows.
  • Provision test user accounts, credentials and test data for multi-step flows.
  • Ensure target testing environments are accessible and network routes open.
  • Define alerting thresholds, escalation recipients and notification routes.
  • Notify internal operations and security teams of automated check execution schedules.
  • Participate in verification testing and provide formal sign-off.

Prerequisites and assumptions

The target endpoint, access permissions, supported location, test identity or data, notification owner and acceptance scenario must be ready before activation. Transactional requires Delivery approval.

Out of scope

  • Scripting multiple independent customer journeys in a single request.
  • Complex test-data generation frameworks or dynamic multi-factor authentication (MFA) automation.
  • Rewriting application frontend code or fixing underlying application bugs.
  • Load testing, stress testing or performance capacity benchmarking.
  • Broad enterprise availability programmes or continuous ongoing script maintenance.

Delivery approach

  • 1. Qualify target: Confirm endpoint type, journey steps, testing frequency and monitoring locations.
  • 2. Build monitor / journey: Configure the HTTP check or author the synthetic browser journey script.
  • 3. Run success test: Execute scheduled runs to establish baseline latency and verify passing assertions.
  • 4. Run controlled failure: Simulate an error condition or bad assertion to validate detection logic.
  • 5. Verify notification: Confirm that failure alerts route cleanly to designated channels.
  • 6. Complete: Export configuration manifests, document script details and close handover.

Completion and evidence

Scheduled execution works, success and controlled-failure checks behave as agreed and notification is verified. Evidence delivered at sign-off includes:

  • Monitor configuration parameters, script code and location assignments.
  • Execution history logs demonstrating successful continuous checks.
  • Controlled-failure execution record and associated alert notification logs.
  • Documented exceptions (if any) and formal customer acceptance.

Delivery credits

This deliverable is available only to customers with Elastic Specialist Advisory. Once the Service Advisor and, where required, Delivery have qualified the Service Request, the applicable credits are allocated from the customer's available credit pool. Delivery credits represent the defined result, not consulting hours.

If the scope changes

If testing indicates that the target application has unstable test environments, dynamic CAPTCHA/MFA barriers that cannot be automated or constantly shifting DOM structures requiring extensive rewrites, Observata pauses the affected work. The Service Advisor and Delivery then requalify the request to another option, another deliverable or a larger governed engagement before additional scope is performed or additional credits are consumed.

How to use this deliverable

  • 1. Identify the critical API endpoint or customer user journey with your advisor.
  • 2. Your Service Advisor confirms test environment stability and qualifies Endpoint or Transactional.
  • 3. The Service Request is activated, locking the test scenario and credit value upfront.
  • 4. Delivery configures the check, verifies successful runs and failure alerting, and delivers operational evidence.
