Outcome

One named observability use case is operational and accepted, with its agreed view, detection or alert and operating response.

Overview

Ready telemetry has not yet been turned into one approved operating use case. This deliverable ties together logs, metrics and traces for a specific operational workflow, building cross-signal correlation views, precision alerting rules and clear notification paths so teams detect and resolve degradations quickly.

Service request options

Option Credits Scope & objective Boundary
Standard 6,000 Ready data, one signal domain (such as logs or metrics) and a defined operational view or alert. Requires Delivery approval.
Integrated 9,000 One use case combining defined signals (e.g. correlating metrics and logs) or incorporating a supported operational workflow integration (such as Slack, Teams or PagerDuty). Requires Delivery approval.

Scope

  • Configure one approved observability use case focused on a specific service or workflow.
  • Assemble correlated visualisations or triage views linking relevant telemetry signals.
  • Define precision threshold or anomaly-based alerting rules.
  • Implement supported notification or operational workflow integrations for Integrated variants.
  • Execute scenario tests simulating degradation or failure conditions.
  • Document response guidance and complete operational handover.

Customer responsibilities

  • Designate system and operations owners to define the operational workflow and decisions.
  • Confirm that necessary telemetry streams are ingesting, trusted and accessible.
  • Define operational thresholds, alerting severity levels and notification channels.
  • Grant administrative permissions in Elastic and target notification tools.
  • Coordinate scenario test execution and participate in sign-off.

Prerequisites and assumptions

The use case and operational decision must be approved, and necessary telemetry must already be present and trusted in Elastic before activation. Delivery approval is required for all variants.

Out of scope

  • Remediating or building missing underlying telemetry streams.
  • Delivering multiple unrelated operational use cases in a single request.
  • Designing broad, organisation-wide monitoring strategies or observability roadmaps.
  • Multi-platform architectural redesigns or custom webhook programming.
  • Continuous rule tuning or managed triage operations post-handover.

Delivery approach

  • 1. Confirm use case: Validate the operational scenario, target service, signal requirements and alert rules.
  • 2. Build approved view / alert / workflow: Configure correlated visual panels, alert logic and notifications.
  • 3. Test scenario: Execute or simulate the operational condition to evaluate rule firing and data correlation.
  • 4. Verify response path: Validate alert delivery, payload contents and linked triage views.
  • 5. Complete: Document operational runbook links, export object definitions and close handover.

Completion and evidence

The approved scenario produces the expected view or alert and the recorded response path is demonstrated. Evidence delivered at sign-off includes:

  • Use-case definition and configured object inventory.
  • Test execution logs demonstrating alert activation under the target condition.
  • Verified notification payload records (such as webhook or notification channel receipts).
  • Documented exceptions (if any) and formal operational-owner acceptance.

Delivery credits

This deliverable is available only to customers with Elastic Specialist Advisory. Once the Service Advisor and Delivery have qualified the Service Request, the applicable credits are allocated from the customer's available credit pool. Delivery credits represent the defined result, not consulting hours.

If the scope changes

If testing indicates that underlying telemetry is missing key metadata, data volumes exceed pipeline capacity or requirements expand to multiple services, Observata pauses the affected work. The Service Advisor and Delivery then requalify the request to another option, another deliverable or a larger governed engagement before additional scope is performed or additional credits are consumed.

How to use this deliverable

  • 1. Identify the critical workflow requiring unified triage with your advisor.
  • 2. Your Service Advisor validates that telemetry signals are present and obtains Delivery approval.
  • 3. The Service Request is activated under Standard (6,000) or Integrated (9,000) credits.
  • 4. Delivery configures the correlation, runs degradation simulations and verifies the alert response path.
