Elastic data source live

Bring a new external data source into Elastic, verified and searchable for production workloads. Fixed-scope platform delivery funded directly from your advisory credit pool, with top-ups available anytime.

Outcome

One source is ingesting into the approved target, the data is searchable and the agreed source-to-target checks pass.

Overview

One ready data source is not yet available in Elastic for its agreed use. This deliverable establishes the end-to-end connection using supported integrations, configures index routing and confirms that incoming records are searchable, fresh and indexed correctly.

Service request options

Option Credits Scope & objective Boundary
Standard 1,500 One supported ready source, one environment, conventional authentication and minimal transformation using an existing supported connector.
Integrated 3,000 One supported source requiring bounded authentication, routing, transformation or integration work within one source-to-target path. Requires Delivery approval.

Scope

  • Configure one supported connection or integration using standard patterns.
  • Set up bounded data routing and baseline index mappings.
  • Implement minimal transformations where agreed in the variant.
  • Verify real-time ingestion, index writing, search discovery and data freshness.
  • Document connection settings and handover details.

Customer responsibilities

  • Provide source system administrative access and generate required credentials.
  • Clear network paths, firewall rules, proxy permissions and identity approvals.
  • Designate source and target technical owners for coordination.
  • Maintain appropriate vendor software and licence entitlements.
  • Define target index preferences, provide test data and participate in sign-off.

Prerequisites and assumptions

Source and destination environments must be operational, credentials and network paths approved and a supported connector available before activation. Standard requires a straightforward supported path with minimal transformation. Integrated requires Delivery approval for bounded routing, transformation or authentication complexity.

Out of scope

  • Developing custom connectors or writing external integration plugins.
  • Connecting multiple independent sources within one request.
  • Troubleshooting or repairing errors on the source system.
  • Upstream network architecture redesigns or multi-tier relay configuration.
  • Extensive historical backfills or multi-year bulk data migrations.
  • Continuous post-implementation pipeline operations or downstream visual build-outs.

Delivery approach

  • 1. Qualify: Confirm source compatibility, target destination and required credentials.
  • 2. Confirm path: Validate network connectivity, permissions and routing rules.
  • 3. Configure: Set up the connector, Elastic Agent integration or intake endpoint.
  • 4. Connect: Establish the live data stream into the designated target index.
  • 5. Test: Validate event receipt, timestamp consistency and field population.
  • 6. Verify: Execute search queries to confirm data visibility and ingestion freshness.
  • 7. Complete: Record configuration details, export verification evidence and close handover.List item

Completion and evidence

Data flows from the named source to the named target and agreed ingestion, search, field and freshness checks pass. Evidence delivered at sign-off includes:

  • Connector or integration configuration export.
  • Sample ingested documents verifying correct field population.
  • Target search query results demonstrating live visibility.
  • Ingestion freshness and rate verification logs.
  • Documented exceptions (if any) and formal customer acceptance.

Delivery credits

This deliverable is available only to customers with Elastic Specialist Advisory. Once the Service Advisor and, where required, Delivery have qualified the Service Request, the applicable credits are allocated from the customer's available credit pool. Outcome Credits represent the defined result, not consulting hours.

If the scope changes

If execution uncovers blocked network routes, invalid source credentials or source-side payload structures requiring non-trivial engineering, Observata pauses the affected work. The Service Advisor and Delivery then requalify the request to another option, another deliverable or a larger governed engagement before additional scope is performed or additional credits are consumed.

How to use this deliverable

  • 1. Agree on the priority source to onboard during your regular working sessions.
  • 2. Your Service Advisor verifies connectivity prerequisites and selects Standard or Integrated.
  • 3. The Service Request is activated, locking the credit value and technical boundary.
  • 4. Delivery establishes the connection, confirms records are indexing and hands over proof of searchability.
